SET B: Great Escapes
We’re practicing some basic escape movements that are used to move out of the way of kicks in capoeira. These movements, when done in a fluid sequence like we’ll do in this workout, lead to a full-body, cardiovascular workout. Escapes are great because they help us work on our balance and coordination, and strengthen the muscles that stabilize the knees and other key joints. Also, the idea is to stay in motion, following along as best you can. As you get more acclimated to the flow of each escape, you’ll find a rhythm that engages the natural momentum created when entering and exiting each escape.
